Score Counter is a small, free project, so replies come from a person and not always quickly — usually within a few days. Bug reports and blunt feedback are genuinely welcome; the app got noticeably better the last time someone took the trouble.
Quick answers
Most messages are one of these five. Worth a look before you write — you’ll get an answer now instead of in a few days.
My play history / players disappeared
Score Counter saves everything in your browser on that device, not on a server. So history vanishes if you cleared your browsing data, used private or incognito browsing, switched browser or device, or your browser reclaimed storage.
We keep no copy at all, which means we genuinely cannot restore it — that isn’t a policy, we simply never received it. If it disappeared while you were doing none of the above, please do write: that would be a bug and we want it.
Can I use it on my phone and my laptop together?
Not yet. There are no accounts, so each device keeps its own separate history and there is no sync between them. You can install the app on each device and use it on both, but they won’t share data.
To move one game’s result across, use the Share button on a finished game — it copies a plain-text scoreboard you can paste anywhere.
Does it work offline?
Yes, after your first visit. The app caches itself so you can keep score with no signal — on a train, in a basement, at a cabin. Since your scores never needed the network in the first place, nothing is queued up waiting to sync.
How do I install it on my phone?
If your browser supports it, an Install button appears in the top bar. On iPhone or iPad, use Safari’s Share menu → Add to Home Screen. Either way it opens full-screen with no browser chrome, and works offline.
Is it really free? What’s the catch?
It’s free, there are no ads, and there is nothing to buy. We measure anonymous usage to see which features matter, and that data never includes your players’ names, your game names or your scores. The Privacy Policy spells out exactly what is and isn’t collected.
